This article talks about how NASA released a spacecraft which was launched in 2009 and was equipped with a photometer to take pictures of space. The spacecraft discovered more than 5,000 other planets in space. One unique planet was the Kepler -425b. That planet orbits around it's star the same distance the Earth orbits around it's star. Based on this observation scientists are now predicting that Kepler -425b may be survivable. The planet Kepler is a lot bigger than Earth and it takes about 385 days to orbit around the star. The star is to be believed that it is older, bigger, and brighter than our sun.
The reason why I chose this article is because I wanted to learn more about other planets. Our planet which is Earth is being polluted, over-populated, and being treated like crap. If we constantly keep this up we will be in lots of trouble. Moving to a different planet seems lots of fun but can be scary at the same time. Everything would change.
This article is important to environmental science because it shows how there is more planets out there in the universe that are survivable. Earth's population is growing and if it continues to grow then we will need to find another way to live. Maybe that new way can be to move to a different planet. A new planet means a new lifestyle and environment for everyone. It will change everyone perspective.
